Christmas Morning 2011

It's the most wonderful time of the year!! Christmas morning at our house is full of excitment!! I am so lucky that I have 2 boy's that like to sleep in, we actually had to wake the boy's up this year. It made it fun to hae church on Christmas this year, and since our meeting started at 10:00am, we had to get up and moving in order to make it.

It is always so fun to watch as the boy's each take turns coming down the hall ad into the front room where the presents are. When they enter the room the pure excitment on their faces as they look for their piles from Santa. This year each of the boy's got a football jersey from their favorite football teams, Jake got alot of fun hunting gear, and Jackson got a Fathead of Troy Polomalu for his wall.

After opening our gifts we got ready for church and had a wonderful sacrament meeting. It was such a great way to spend Christmas, sitting in the chapple, remembering the true meaning of this holiday season. When church was over we went up to Grandma and Grandpa Bott's and Skinners. It was so nice to spend a bit of time with each of them today.

Soon we were on our way back home to enjoy each other as a family. We ended the day watching a fun movie that Grandma Cleo had given us for Christmas, curled up in our new Minky blankets. This is the way I enjoy ending most nights, snuggled up with the ones I love!!

Christmas Eve with the Bott's

This year before the prsents began, we spent some time visiting and eating at Grandpa and Grandma Bott's. Uncle Blake had to work, so we wanted to wait for him to get there as well. We as a family, have carried on the same tradition as my Grandma Bott had. We have the same things to eat before we start with the presents.
This year my Mom and Dad decided that my Dad was going to read the Christmas story from the scriptures and then the kids were going to stand and sing Christmas Caroles once we all were gathered and before the gift exchange began. I can remeber doing this same thing at my Grandpa and Grandma Bott's house when I was younger also.

Once the gift exchange began, it was so fun to watch as everyone's face would light up and to hear the simple word's of gratitude among family member's. This was such a fun night and many laughs were shared between us all. I am always so excitted to hear the poems that my Dad write's for every one of us. They are always comical and always bring laughter to the room.

After the gifts's we exchange our cookies and load up our treasures, and head in our seperate directions. Before leaving we all express our thanks again, share hugs and express our love for each other. I know that this is the real gift of the night. As we all are busy with our day to day lives, I am always most greatful for these simple moments that we get to share with the ones we love the most. Merry Christmas to all, and may our lives be blesse by the love of our Savior and the gift of this season in which he has given us all!!!!

Ice Candle Tradition

This is such a very special tradition that we have. I know that it is the Holiday Season when we take the time to go and visit the graves of loved one's, and wish them a Merry Christmas. This year was a bit chaotic as we were having a Christmas gathering at the Huntsville house, with Gary's family. It was getting late into the night and we had planned to do the ice candles after the gathering. As the night got later and other distractions kept arising, there was talk that we would forgo the Ice Candle Tradition this year. This was not ok with me, I gathered Travis and my boy's ad stated that we were going to the cemetary.

I could'nt bare to see such a special tradition forgotten. It was so special to see Travis's brother's and sister gather their families and follow to the car's and to the cemetary. Once at the cemetary we began as usual to place our ice candles around the grave's of Travis Father Richard Toone, as well as Grandpa Clair's. These are 2 very Amazing and Special men. As we placed the candles around the graves, it was so nice to see Cleo walk up to the grave's as well, and join us all as a family at this very special place.

Once the candles were placed and lit, we all began to sing our Christmas carols to Grandpa Toone and Grandpa Clair. On this night their was such a special feeling to me as we all sang. I could feel the love of family! I know that Grandpa Clair and Richard were watching as we met together and spent a few special minuets, together as a FAMILY!!! Some things will change in our lives, that is a given. But this Tradition to me will always be, and will always be one of the most special things I do to celebrate the Christmas Season!!! We love you Grandpa Toone/Richard/ Dad and Grandpa Clair!! We miss you every year!!!

Happy Thanksgiving

This year since my Grandma Lu has een having health issues, we decided to spend Thanksgiving with my Mom and Dad and Grandpa and Grandma skinner. It was a really special day for us all. My brother Blake came as wel as my Uncle Randy Skinner to spend the day with us as well.

We had such great food this year, as always. My Dad always makes such a great turkey, and this year since Travis and Jake shot a couple of wild turkeys in New Mexico, my Dad cooked one of them up as well. It was really good tasting, and I really enjoyed it because it was darker meat. (My favorite) It was sucha nice dinner to just sit around and enjoy with each other. My family is so special to me and to spend this day with them ment alot to me.

When I reflect on what I am Thankful for in my life, Family is number 1. I dont know were I would be had I not had the parents that I did growing up. They were great examples to me, as to family being everything. I can remembr so many times when my family went out of their way for me. I truely hope that I canbe the parent to my boys, that my parents have been to me and my brother's.

My life is so blessed and I am so Thankful for all I have in it. I am so Thankful for my family, my boys and for the blessing I have to be a memeber of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My faith and my testimony have helped me through so many trials in my life, and I am so blessed.

Deer Hunt in Bear Lake 2011

This year we went to Bear Lake for the opening weekend of the deer hunt. We used the Bear Lake cabin and spent alot of time driving around in the ranger looking for the deer, the only problem was there were about another 150 hunters that had the same idea.

We drove over to the other side of the lake a couple of times as well and hiked throught the hills as well. It was quite the experiance. Jake and were the ones with tags since Travis always gets an archery tag.

It was so much fun to spend this quality time with each other. We had a nice place to stay, a ranger to drive through the hills and great food to eat. It was fun to talk with the boys and see their excitment as we walked, or drove through some beautiful country. Neither one of us were able to shoot a deer, in fact we only saw does. Which we are not able to shoot. It was a succesful hunt, and a weekend with many fun experiances.

Sighting in the Gun

Every year before the Deer Season opens, we go and sight in the guns. This year we all went up by my Mom and Dad's and took the guns to shoot.
This is such an Awesome picture of a Boy and his Dad. They are so much alike and this is so perfect of them both.

Jackson brought the 22 so that he could shoot it at the target. He isnt big enough to shoot the deer rifle, but the 22 is perfect for him.

Surprise.......

It's Taylor Swift!!!! Tonight I was able to surprise Jake, with the help of 2 of my friends from work, and take him to the Taylor Swift concert. He had no idea that we were going to the concert.

I told him that we were picking up 2 girl from my work, going to Salt Lake, having something to eat, and then we needed to help a girl with something she was doing. I told him that he could count it as service for his scoting. He was less than excitted, to say the least. He did not want to go, and complaine the entire time, until I picked up the other 2 girls from my work.

Then we started out to the Surprise. As we got to Slt lake and had to stop at stop lights, there were girls everywhere with "I love Taylor" shirts on, so Kris would distract Jake, and then we got to the California Pizza Kitchen for dinner and there were Taylor Swift things everywhere. It almost seemed hopless. We ate dinner and visited as well. It was alot of fun, and Jake was starting to loosen up a lot more. I started to think that this was going to be such a great night!!! I couldnt wait!!

After dinner we decided that we were going to walk up by the Energy Solution's Arena, and show Jake this cool thing that they had there, as we started walking up the street, there were at least 15 semi's and buses that were plastered with Taylor Swift Advertising's. Teddi looked at me and said, " you had better tell him now, we cant hide these." so I looked at Jake and said, " Surprise!!!! You are going to the Taylor Swift concert"!!! He was so excitted. He is in LOVE with Taylor Swift and he reacted the way I thought he would!

We went inside and found our seats. They were what you can nose bleed seats, but it was so excitting to be there and to see how excitted Jake was to be there as well, it made it al worth it. When the concert started Jake would whistle, scream nad sing along with the songs. He was so happy to be at the concert. Durring the show Jake and I walked down to tha lowere level and watched a little of the show as well. It was so fun durring the encore to sneak to some open lower seats, and watch as Taylor floated over the crowd singing "Love Stroy". Jake was smiling so much!!

After the concer we walked back to the car, as Jake recalled the entire concert. It was exciting to hear him as excited as he was. When we got back in the car, and started o head home, I took a wrong turn and got us a little lost. Kris turned on the GPS on her phone and it told us to turn do this dark street in the middle of a scary looking area. As we turned a car pulled out by us with dark tinted windows and driving very slow. Kris started yelling "they are gonna get us". Teddi and Jake were in the back seat screaming and ducking down. I was scared and Kris was laughing. I wanted to get out of there quick!! Soon I knew where we were and we were on the freeway shortly after that. We laughed and replayed the night all the way home.

I am so lucky to have had this experiance with you, Jake. You are such an Amazing boy, and I love you so much!! He was so excitted and smiled so much tonight. I could have spent the night just watching his pure joy, and been just as happy. The memories I will treasure are those of his face smiling, singing and experiancing a true dream coming true. Jake I love you and am so glad we have had this night to have these memories made.

Utah State Fair 2011

This year at the Weber Couny Fair, Jake entered a clay project into the indoor exhibit area, that he had made, and it was selected to move on to the Utah State Fair. We decided since he was given a free ticket, that we would go and check it out.

My Mom wanted to go with us. So we all headed down to Salt Lake to check out the State Fair. It was so excitting to walk around the exhibits and to be able to go to the 4-H building and walk around and find Jake's exhibit!! He is so talented and I am always so amazed and proud of the job he does. He was so proud of himself as well. He recieved another Blue Ribbon, and $3.00 for this as well.

After we found the project, we walked around and saw the other exhibits as well. It is always amazing to me that there are so many people at this fair. We went in the middle of the day on a Thursday, and it was still so busy there. We played some fun carnival games and a had a few tasty snacks as well. We walked around and saw all the booths of vendors. Lot's of fun stuff!!

I am so glad that we were able to go to the fair and to see Jake's project today. He has such talent, and I hope that he continue to develope this amazing ability.

ScOuTiNg........

As we were driving over the North Ogden Divide tonight, Travis pulled the car over and allthe boy's jumped out. With out comunicating they all saw a deer and jumped out to take a closer look.

I love that Jake is showing Jackson where he needs to look. He s such a great nature boy, and I am proud when I see him passing on his knowlage to his little brother.

They are both so interested and want to be just like their Dad when it comes to hunting and spotting the deer. Thay are our future game killers!!!

Plain City Blue!!!!

This is a story that Jackson wrote about his fun football season. I was so impressed by the job he did. He wrote a little every night and did it all on his own. (except I typed it for him.)

I get my head in the game. I play the game. It is fun! You get to tackle in the game. It’s fun, but when I get the ball I run fast to the end zone. It is really fun to do! We lost 3 games and we won 4 games. We just got done with our football season. My last game was Saturday and on that day we won by 1 point. That was so fun that we won that game. I think that my team was the Best team in the league. This was the best team that I have ever played with. I had a great time!
I loved my team. My friends were on my team, next year they wont be on my team though. My friends names are Riley, Butler, Brock, Dana, Hancock, Duncan, Jake, Canyon, Miller, and McDonald. These are some of my friends from my team. They loved me and I loved them to forever in football years. I love football, it is my favorite sport. I love to play it, and it makes me happy. Another one of my friends name is Holmes. The other day at our game he kicked a boy on the other team because he saw me crying on the sideline from what the boy had said to me, that hurt my feelings. He got kicked off the field, and out of the game. I felt bad for him, and foolish for the way I had acted. I was so grateful to him. He showed me he was my real friend that day.
All of my coaches helped me learn how to play football. I was surprised when I hit Johnson. I knocked him on his butt. He went in the air, I mean he flew far. I loved that part it was funnier than heck. I am serious, it was funnier than heck. I loved to play the game when we ran in a circle and took turns tackling each other. It taught us how to hit and tackle kids bigger than us and bring them down.
Plain City needs help getting kids their pads. Without our pads there wont be any blocking, hitting, and tackling. How will we get those downs? I don’t know, do you know? It would be flag football, I mean flag football.
Our jerseys are blue and pants are blue. We were named the Plain City Blue Team. I loved playing on Plain City football field. We won some games and lost some also. I wanted to win all the games, but we did loose some. It was good that we didn’t loose all of our games, it made me happy that we won some of the games this season. It was sad that we didn’t score more points in our last game, but we did win and that made us all happy, as a team. We really wanted to win the last game, and we did!
I wanted to play the whole game I wish I was in the whole game every time. It would be so fun to play the whole game. I would have liked if my coaches had put me in for the whole game. I loved my coaches and all that they taught me about football. I never wanted it to end. I wished we had another week of football, at least.
I loved my friends on the team. They helped me when I was on the ground. I would stick my hand in the air and they would come over and grab it and pull me to my feet. I liked my friend Riley. He was my good friend. He is a funny kid. That is why he is my friend. I am lucky because he likes me to. I have a lot of friends now because of football. My coaches are my friends also. Coach Butler and all the other coaches are my friends. They would tell me how good I was doing. I love my coaches, they are true friends to me. The coaches boys were my friends to and we all got along good.
My Mom was one of the Team Mom’s. We got shirts, pant’s, sweatshirts, and hoodies to. We just got all of those today and I am so excited to wear my new football clothes.
Football is a great way to make new friends and other kids can play it to. I believe in them, just give it a shot. I know that kids will have as much fun as I did in football if they get their head in the game, and learn all you can. I hope they will listen, and hit and tackle like me. This is what I think it takes to play the game of football. I loved playing football, it is my dream to play in the NFL. I would love to have practice every day to get me to that dream. I believe that kids can do it. They will have a lot of fun. I hope they will make friends and be a good team. With a good team you can do anything, even if you don’t win every game, you still have friends.

I am so proud of my special little guy. He has learned so much this season, and had such a good ime doing it. He has made alt of new friends and grown so much!! Love you Toone-Y!!!

Flaming Gorge 2011

Flaming Gorge over Labor day has become somewhat of a tradition around our neighborhood. We have such close friends with in the neighborhood and have had alot of fun on these trips to the Gorge.

This year we rented a little camp trailer, after freezing in the pop up trailor last year. Our little trailer was a Wolf Pup, and it had running water and a BATHROOM, which was all I needed. It was a perfect size for our family, and after all how much time do we spend in the trailor really!!

We had such a good time this year with the hood. Some of our other neighbrs came this year and brought their boat as well, so we had 2 boats to trade time between. It was alot of fun for the boys this year as well. Jake got to drive the boat for Jacey a few times, and Jacksoneven attempted knee boarding. It was so much fun to just hang out and relax is such a beautiful place.

This year since there were so many people on the trip, we would take the big blow up raft out into the middle of the Gorge and some of us would get on t and float around whie the others went and did their tricks behnd the boats. e even had a Big Air Contest, and made numbers to score the jumps with as well. As funny as it sounds, the sitting on the raft was one of my favorie things to do.

I am so greatful we have such good friends, and have such good time with each other. This is such a fun'vacation and such a beautiful place to visit. We have fun dong so much while we are at the Gorge like, the boat parade, relaxing on the water, and just hanging out laughing with good friends. It is so neat that we have the oppurtuinity to have such a fun life. I have to admit the saying is true "Life IS Good"!!!

Welcome to Jr. High - 7th Grade

WOW!!! Junior High School...... for Jake!
He is so excitted to be going to Jr. High this year. He was up and ready for the bus, yes the bus. This is the first time that Jake has had to ride a bus since he started school. He has to be at the bus stop by 7:05am, which is an hour and a half earlier than when he was in Elementary. This is going to be interesting, to say the least!!
I know that Jake is going to have a great year and this is going to be such a fun new adventure for him. I can remember Jr, High for me and I felt so BIG!! I can wait for allthe fun new things that he will get to do, and be a part of. Stay as strong and smart as you are Jake, and many wonderful things will come to pass for you in this year!!
Go Wahlquist Eagles!!

First Day of 2nd Grade

Can you believe that Jackson is starting the 2nd grade? Hehas grown so much over the summer and is really becoming a young man. Jackson is once again a Farr West Falcon, and is proud to be one as well.

We drive past this sign everytime we leave or come home from our house.

Jackson was so happy when he found out that his friends Trace, Calvin and Lauren are in his class. I know he will have so much fun this year with these fun friends by his side.

Birthday in Park City.......

This year for mine andTravis's birthday, my Mom and Dad decided to take our family to Park City for 2 nights. My Dad had a Realtor convention, so he was in classes for most of the day's, but Travis, Me, Jake

My Dad was so excitted for us to come and to have the boy's go down the Alpine Slide. Jake was so scared at first, even the ride to the top of the hill was quite an ordeal. When we did get to he top Jake wanted to ride by himself, and made sure he knew how to work his brake. He went on a diffrent track than the rest of us, and needless to say it took Jake a little longer to get down the slide. But once he did make it down he was so excitted and wantd to go again, and again. It was alot of fun!

I unfrotunatly wasnt feeling very well, d had to pass on a few of the other activities for the night. We all went back to the hotel and went swimming. Actually just Travis, Jake and Jackson went, but we all went and watched. We played games that night and planned the next day.

The next morning we woke up and had a quick bite to eat, and were off to the outlet malls for some school shopping, and such. It was alot of fun, even though I was still not quite a 100%. We found some fun things for the boy's and even a couple things for Travis and I as well. My Mom found some fun items for herself as well. We had alot of fun, just checking out the shop's. After shopping we decided to go back up to the Alpine Slide area, and meet up with my Dad. He got such a kick out of watching the boys come down the slide. It was so funny to weatch their faces. Jackson is a true daredevil and Jake is so much the cautious child. I know these are memories they will treasure forever.

After the slide we went and ate dinner at a Mexcian Resturant by the slide. It was delicious. We then went back to the hotel and did a bit more swimming. It was fun just to have Grandma and Buddy with us to play games and hang out. This was such a fun weekend getaway, and a super way to celebrate 2 bithdays!! Thank you Mom and Dad!!

Moving onto State.....

This is the clay project that Jake made for the indoor exhibit at the fair this year. He is so talented with sculpting and creating, even the smallest details.
Jake was soexcitted to see the sticker by his ribbon stating that his project had been selected to represent Weber County at the Utah State Fair. He recieved$3.00 for his blue ribbon (which he earned 5 others for other items he had entered as well) and also a ticket to the fair.
I am so proud of Jake!! He never stops amazing me with his talent and ability. Jake you will go very far in this life, if you apply yourself and develope your skills and talents further. I love you!

Sale Day.....

Here we are att he sale. This is always such a crazy day for me. My nerves get going and I start to panic abut the sale of Jakes lamb. Jake on the other hand cant wait until it is over, then the last night at the fair festivities can begin. He has work with and raised this lamb over the last 4 1/2 months, and he feels it is time to end. Plus he really likes to know how much money will be coming his way. He isnt allowed to spend it though. It is put into a bank account for the future, be it a car, mission, what ever, it will be there.
I am so happy we took a piture in front of the fair sign this year. We have talked about it every year and for some reason, I never get it done. Isnt he so stinkin cute?!

Jake asked Brayden to stand in the sale ring with him, and hold the poster they were awarded earlier with the "Clean Stall". Jake also wore his medals ad the announcer would refer to the buyer's to watch for the kids with these awards, as they had earned them with extra time and dediucation to their project.
Jake did well this year, and we were happy for the outcome.
After the sale Travis and I ran into Jake's buyer an stopped to talk with him. He is a local business owner and had purchase Jake's lamb the first year, and since then I have had Jake take him a flyer and invite him to the livestock auction. He told Travis and I that Jake was the only child that had stopped by and invited himto the fair this year, and that he was here to buy Jake's lamb no matter the cost. I wa so honored that he felt that way about Jake. This guy has had kid's grow up showing lambs in the past and stated that he was aware of the work that kid's need to put in .to ensure that there is a buyer for their lamb at the fair. He was greatful that Jake had remembered him. I think if Jake invites him every year he will ave a forever buyer.
What a great end to a great sale day at the Weber County Fair 2011!

Superman Jack

This year at the fair Jackson had asked if he could do this trampoline swing/jumper. I had told him he could but to wait until the last day and we would go over and do it. Well...on the last day of the fair, since it was Travis and my birthday that day, my Mom and Dad came and ate dinner with us. I noticed that Jackson and my Dad were missing. I asked if anyone knew where they had gone, and everyone was pleeding the 5th. Next thing I see is Jackson walking back towards the camper with a big smile on his face, being followed by my Dad. When I asked where they had been Jackson said "Buddy let me go on the Sky Jump". He had so much fun, that e asked if he could go again. I had told him I would take him to do it, so we finished dinner and off we went to watch Jackon do this Sky Jump.

He was so excitted and smiled from ear to ear. He is not scared of much and always wants to try new things. I know if I was strapped into that contraption I wouldhave passed out, thrown up, screamed or maybe all of the above. Jackson just laughed and smiled. I was so suprised to watch himjump up and down, and enjoy this so much. He is so Awesome and has a pure heart filled with love and fun. Way to go Jack!!!

Show Day......

Today is the show day at the Weber County Fair. Jake is getting to be such a pro at this. He is so darn cute as he walks his lamb into the ring and sets her up for the judge. He is learning so much each year, and has grown just as much. He is so focused and does his very best each year.

This year the judge was so helpful to each of the kids. He took the time to explain to each child what they could work on and improve on for the next year. He gave a little speech telling all of the children that he is a father of kids that show in his fair and that he knows how discouraging it can seem when they dont win, but he explained that it isnt the children that are being judged and if it were they would all win 1st place, just for choosing to raise an animal for the fair. He stated that he knows how the parents feel also, and explained that his kids had just shown there animals at there fair and that it was difficult for him as well. I felt that was a very personalble thing for him to do as a judge. It ment alot to me as a parent and I know that it made the kids feel better also.

Jake did a great job, not only showing the lamb, but also in the showmanship round. He has moved up to a diffrent age group and now is with some of the older kid's but even then he did a great job. He smiled so cute, and made great eye contact. I love this part of the show day, because all of the kids are smiling, and seem to be having fun. It looks so nice to have 10-12 smiling children with the animals they have worked with for the past 4 1/2 months in the show ring together. It seems to me that this is when the can express their joy and pride in their animals. I am so proud of Jake and the choice he has made again this year to take place in this program. He is a natural with animals and does such a great job every year. Way to go Jaker T!!

Jake and Scarlett 2011

Every year when the fair is here we take pictures of the kids and their lambs, and make up fliers to deliver to buyers/boosters. This year we decided to take them the night of the fair weigh in and use them for the fair board as well.
I cant believe how much jake has grow up since the first year he started doing this. This is such a cute picture of my little country boy.
I am so glad that he enjoys showing lambs and being part of this amazing 4-H program. On to the fair T-Bird!!!

Shearing for the Fair.....

I can hardley believe that it is time to shear the lambs for the fair already. This summer has flown by, and it seems that we just bought the lambs and now it is fair time again.

This is Ronnie's last year raising and showing lambs. He has been such a help to the kid's and has taught Jake so much valuable information as well. I have been the Club Leader for the past 2 years, and I have been so lucky as well to have the Wardleigh's and Brunson's to teach me to.

When it comes to the shearing though, Ronnie gets it done. It is alot of work and but I know that after it is done, all of the kid's know that what comes next is the reason that they work so hard through the summer months........ The Fair!!! We are ready, Here we come!!Posted by Picasa

Setting up the panels....

This year for the fair, being as I am the group leader, I signed the kids up to help with the setting up of the lamb pens prior to the fair starting.

It was an early morning start today as we needed to be at the livestock barn at 7:30am. Jake and I met Cami and Shania at Cami's work in South Ogden at 7:00am, and took Shania with us to the fairgrounds. I feel it was rewarding for our group to be part of this event. It gave them the oppertunity to see just what really goes on to get the fair set up and ready for the animals to come in.

It only took us a couple of hours, but I feel that having them do this has helped them to grow in the 4-H program. We have a super group and we have alot of fun together. Jake and Brayden have become good friends as well, which is neat to watch that friendship grow all because they share a similar intrest in the lambs.

I am so glad that this program is avalibe to keep kids intrested in things that will help them become better people in the world for the future. Thanks Team John Deere! We Rock!!
