MeMoRiAl DaY 2011

Although the weather was wet and gloomy, the mood was bright as we made our way around to the graves this Memorial Day. Each year, Travis's Mom plans a gathering so that we as a family can pay respect at each of the family graves. We started this year at Taylor's. It was quite emotional as we arrived and saw the "BR" (Bear River) that some friends had placed on her grave. Taylor would have graduated this year from High School, and the BR was a craft project that was made and given to some of the girls of the graduating class of 2011. It was real special to see that Taylor had not been forgotten on such a memorable event. The saying "Gone, but not forgotten" comes to mind when I saw those black and red letter. She is missed.

Next we headed to Huntsville to visit the graves there. It is one of the most beautiful cemeteries, and such a peaceful spot of earth. It is always hard for Travis to visit, and know that his father is buried there. He is such an amazing man and father. I truly believe that although he has passed from this earth he is still a big part of his children's lives. It is always such a neat time to visit and show our respect and love for this wonderful man.

Huntsville Cemetery is also the place where Grandpa Clair is buried. I have often wondered as we have spent time in this cemetery, as to the bond that these two men must share. I have a feeling that they are great friends and brother's, and I know without a doubt that they both respect and love each other for the family that I am so blessed to be a part of. Clair was one of the most giving men I have ever known! He has taught us all so many lessons, that I reflect on daily. I have never known a man to have so much, and give as much as he had. His lessons of love and kindness have influenced not only my life, but the life of my boy's. Grandpa Clair is an example of Christ like love, and we think of him often.

After we visit the graves we always share a delicious meal together as a family. It is so great that we are able to gather and spend this time together making memories. I am so blessed and honored to ave known each of these amazing people. Some I have known through others, but I feel I know them just the same. What a wonderful day we have had to celebrate Memorial Day!!!!
